Acne treatments generally fall into a few categories.  The first category, cleansing systems, is really more of a preventative measure.  Still, for many people, a good skin care routine is all that is needed.  Next are the topical medicines.  These are often made with benzoyl peroxide or vitamin A derivatives.  The third category is prescription treatments.   Some prescription treatments are simply stronger versions of over-the-counter medicines, but doctors also occasionally prescribe antibiotics to help treat acne.  Further, dermatologists also sometimes use light and laser therapy, and there have been some good results with these kinds of treatments.
