The bottom, bottom line is that if you are consistently adding weight to the bar each week then there is no reason at all to vary up your exercises, sets, days in the gym etc.I do include different workout plans every 8 weeks but it’s more for psychological variety and to give you experience with a wider range of lifts. It’s true that you have to consistently present your muscles with a task they’ve never experienced before in order to achieve growth… And that’s what increasing your weight/reps does. It is a hard-wired evolutionary response and when applied properly the muscles have no choice but to adapt. As long as you continue to adjust your frequency and volume according to your gains (as you get stronger you must train less to prevent over-training), you should be able to experience uninterrupted progress using the same protocol of heavy weights, low-moderate reps and basic exercises.
