A disease which is supposed to be the disease of high living is the gout. The risk factors of the said condition are due to the red meats and the wine. Another risk factor of this condition is being overweight. Gout does not occur in third world countries, so is considered a disease of the higher living in western countries. One of the key approaches of the management of gout is to focus on this high living. One key factor is loosing weight in reducing the risk of gout. Also changing the diet away from those foods and drinks that predispose to gout attacks is important. Unfortunately most do need drugs in addition to the lifestyle modifications are often not enough. With these interventions gout is manageable, but a lack of compliance with the lifestyle changes is the biggest barrier to management.
