In February 2008 a bus went into service in Adelaide in South Australia which was the first of its kind. The batteries used in this bus, which is known as the Tindo, are recharged with solar energy. Now, as we all know, solar energy is the most green source of energy available. The Tindo bus is an incredible feat of ingenuity. It uses state-of-the-art technology. The savings on diesel have been astronomic, and apart from the Tindo being virtually pollution-free, it is also almost noise-free. It’s important to take people out of cars and into public transport. In Adelaide they are going some way to doing that, even offering free bus services around the city. The Tindo bus is part of the welcome effort to clean up the environment.
